Meet Ashley: The Importance of Stillness
My name is Ashley and I’m a young woman in her early 30’s from the Southwest who loves: Jesus, Food, Reading, Traveling, Exercising, and Bargain Shopping. I am so excited to be a part of this community, as I believe something special happens when women connect with each other in a transparent and authentic manner. I don’t know about you, but there have been many times in my life where I’ve encountered cattiness and backbiting from women in the world. Sadly, even within the walls of the church. This is unfortunate, and grieves me so much...as we were created to fellowship and encourage one another.
Before I leave you today, I wanted to share some thoughts on the importance of stillness. It’s so easy to get caught up in the activity of our everyday lives so much so, that we forget the importance of sitting in the stillness of the presence of The Lord. Personally, I’ve spent the last few years trying to advance my life to what I think is the next phase. Like saving money, attempting to network and establish relationships that will get me where I need to go, and applying for jobs that appeal to me. Although there is nothing wrong with preparation and intention, the Bible even tells us that faith without works is dead. So let us not forget that nothing can compare or produce results in our lives, if it does not stem from the hand of God.
I love Jeremiah 29:13 from the New English Translation which says: "When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul” I LOVE that verse!
The Father is readily available to commune with us, comfort us, and give us instructions. But we first must be intentional about seeking Him. I love demystifying prayer and spending time with God. I like talking with him while driving in my car, getting dressed, and other daily mundane tasks. When you incorporate the Lord into your everyday tasks, you begin to habitually abide in his presence...what a Privilege!
I’m so excited to journey with you all, as we draw closer to the Father...in a setting where we can bear our souls and share our trials and victories. Until next time, please feel free to connect with me on any of my social media outlets and I’ll speak to you soon!
